... sind im besten Falle von Frauen geschaffene Abbildungen von Frauen.

Die Sommeracher Malerin Christine Dumbsky entkleidet diesen Begriff allerdings etwas seiner Programmatik, die ihm gerade wegen seiner Allgemeinheit seit seines häufigeren Auftauchens im Dunstkreis der Frauenbewegung anhaftet - zumindest auf den ersten Blick.

Christine Dumbskys Frauen scheinen vor allem an der Vermittlung ihrer eigenen Welt nach außen interessiert, sie provozieren gar noch, wo skulpturale Elemente aus dem Bild ragen, den Betrachter zur Berührung verleiten.
Sie reduziert ihre Frauen nicht zum Gegenstand männlicher Phantasien, die genau das, was sie anzeigen, ohnehin nicht mehr einzulösen vermöchten.
Christine Dumbsky propagiert keinen sexuellen Voyeurismus. Ihre Frauen bewahren sich ihre Geheimnisse, verklären sie mitunter gar, und erweisen sich wohl gerade deshalb überhaupt willens und fähig, sie mit jemanden zu teilen.

Es sind Frauen mit Sehnsüchten und Illusionen und mit dem Wunsch verstanden zu werden. Daß sich die Malerin eine verträumte, romantische Ader erhalten hat, ist nicht nur Voraussetzung solcher Bilder, sondern macht auch deren besonderen Charme aus.

“Paintings of women”

... are in the best case from women created reflections of women.

On first view the Sommerach painter Christine Dumbsky appears to undress the concept from it's objective that was straight clinging the concept, according to it's more often appearing meaning in the orbit of the women's movement - at least at the first view. Christine Dumbsky`s women seem to be interested in showing their inner world to the outer world, provocatively.

Where sculptural elements released from the picture frame, tempt the viewer to touch. Her women are not reduced to the objects of men`s fantasy. Christine Dumbsky is not supporting sexual voyerism.

Her women retain their secrets, transfigure them and yet are evident and capable of sharing themselves as they are, just because of this. They are women with longing and illusions desiring to be understood. That the artist has a dreamy, romantic streak is not only a pre-requisite for her work, it is also what gives it it`s special charm.

“la femme ”

Aussi loin que je me souvienne, j'ai toujours peint- C'était et c'est toujours pour moi comme une force positive.

J'ai développé mon style personnel au cours des dernières années, durant lesquelles les femmes ont toujours été dans l'ombre sur le plan artistique. A l'heure actuelle pour mon travail je préfère la technique mixte a l'acrylique avec des composants en relief sur panneaux de bois.

Au premier abord l'aspect érotique peut paraître évident pour l'observateur, mais pour moi c'est secondaire, en fait la "femme" et ses sentiments est le sujet et le leitmotiv de mon travail.

La signification première de cette approche est : les femmes vues par une femme.

Zunächst stand die Malerei im Mittelpunkt des Wirkens der Künstlerin Christine Dumbsky. Wobei Ihre Gemälde oft als „Erotic Art“ kategorisiert werden, obwohl sich ihre Bilderwelten bei genauerer Betrachtung wohl eher mit dem Thema „Frau“ auseinander setzen.
Die Arbeit mit der 'lebenden Leinwand" kam erst einige Jahre später dazu, dennoch eine beinahe zwangsläufige Entwicklung. Die Idee, den Betrachter, Kunstschaffenden und das Modell komplett in den Entstehungsprozess zu integrieren, war imaginär schon seit langem für die Künstlerin eines ihrer gesetzten Ziele. Mit Hilfe der Körpermalerei war es erstmals möglich dies nun konsequent zu realisieren.

Zunächst bemalte sich die Künstlerin selbst, um sich mit "Haut und Haaren" mit ihrem Werk zu identifizieren. Eine "schweinische Auftragsarbeit" mit Schweineskulpturen für einen Stadtevent gab den ersten Impuls dazu. Später verselbständigte sich diese Grundidee und entwickelte sich zu einer eigenständigen und neuen Richtung. Das Modell, das ja ursprünglich "nur" als lebende Projektionsfläche diente, wurde Teil eines Gesamtkunstwerkes und war nun selbst völlig verschmolzen mit dem Gemälde, welches thematisch oft als Grundlage diente.

PRESS REVIEW particularly about Bodypainting:

At first painting was the center of work of the artist Christine Dumbsky. Whereby her paintings are often categorized as “Erotic Art”, although a closer look below the surface of her picture worlds rather reveal a more differentiated topic “the woman”.

The work with the “living canvas“ was added some years later, nevertheless an almost inevitable development. The idea to integrate the viewer, the art-creative and the model completely into the developing process was imaginary already for a long time for the artist and one of her set goals. With the help of the bodypainting it could be realized for the first time.

First the artist painted herself, in order to identify herself with “skin and hair” with her own work, to become a real part of the art. An order of pig sculptures for a city event gave the first impulse in addition. Later this philosophy became somehow independent and developed furhter to a new direction. The model, which originally served “only” as a living canvas, became part of a synthesis of the arts and was now even completely merged with the painting, which thematically often served as basis.

Die Künstlerin und einige Auszüge aus Ihren Aktivitäten:

Vor Ihrer Zeit als „hauptberufliche“ Künstlerin arbeitete Christine Dumbsky als Creativ Manager A&R in dem von Warner/Chappell administrierten Musikverlag Touch & Go Music (Infos: www.touchandgo.com) mit dem Schwerpunkt internationale Musiktitelverwertung.

Als freischaffende Künstlerin zeigt Christine Dumbsky seit ca. 1996 ihre Gemälde im Internet. Dies war der Beginn der hauptsächlichen Konzentration auf die Malerei. Sie war eine der ersten Künstler die dort ihre Arbeiten zeigte. Ihre Webseite hatte in dieser Zeit über 1 Mio. Besucher.
Durch das Internet entstanden internationale Kontakte und es ermöglichte der Künstlerin u. a. auch weltweite Ausstellungen zu machen.

So stellte die Künstlerin 1999 in New York auf dem Woodstock Revival Festival 1999 aus.
Die Ausstellung „ArtWall“ fand dort auf dem „Art- und Sculpture Park“ statt. u. a. mit Werken von Bob Kennedy und Elliott Landy. - Mit dem „original Woodstockfotografen“ Elliott Landy, der die Rocklegenden Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison uvm. auf dem ersten Woodstock 1969 fotografierte hat Christine später – zurück in Deutschland zusammen weitere Fotoprojekte durchgeführt. -
Die ArtWall im Art- und Sculpture Park, fand zusammen mit der die Get Back Woodstock 99 Ausstellung statt (mit Kunstwerken u. a. von Robert Rauschenberg und Andy Warhol).

Im gleichen Jahr wanderte die Ausstellung zurück nach Deutschland zur Funkausstellung nach Berlin. Die Galerie Fine Art in New York, welche auch die Ausstellung in New York organisierte initiierte auch diese Ausstellung.

Ein Jahr zuvor waren die Bilder von Christine für das amerikanische Spiel "Behind Closed Doors - For women only, men not allowed" der amerikanischen Firma "Intimate Details“ veröffentlicht worden.
Der Kontakt mit der Firma kam über das Internet zustande. Die Firmenchefin Orna Banan suchte nach geeigneten Künstlern und Bildern für eben dieses Spiel. Die Entscheidung fiel letztendlich auf die Bilder von Christine.
Die Kombination Ihrer Werke mit diesem Spiel gefiel Ihr, zumal die Künstlerin vorwiegend Frauenbilder malt und Frau Banan die Idee hatte ein Kartenspiel hauptsächlich für lesbische Frauen zu entwickeln.

2002 wurde Christine von der Hua Cui Chinese Artists Community eingeladen mit Ihren Werken dort an einer internationalen teilzunehmen. Die Ausstellung fand nahe der Millionenstadt Tianjin im Huan Ya Guan Great Wall & Castle statt.

Als einzige Deutsche präsentierte sie neben chinesischen und anderen Kunstschaffenden und Kunstprofessoren aus den USA, Finnland, Österreich und Japan einiger ihrer Werke. Hochrangige Politiker, unter Ihnen Mr. Sun Zhenqing, der Chief Governor of Ji Xian County, waren bei der Ausstellungseröffnung zugegen.
Christine Dumbsky hatte bereits im Januar 2000 die Ehrenmitgliedschaft verliehen bekommen für ihr Engagement und ihren Beitrag zur Erweiterung der Beziehungen zwischen chinesischer und westlicher Kunst. Sie wurde von einem Fotojournalisten für eine Fotoreportage vor Ort begleitet.

2002 war die Künstlerin auf der Expo in der Schweiz vertreten. Aus diesem Kontakt entstand ihr späteres Kinderprojekt mit einer Schweizer Kinderbuchautorin. Zusammen mit der Autorin entwickelte Christine eine Geschichte für ein Kinderbuch. 2007 beauftragte eine schweizer Spielzeugfirma Christine mit der Gestaltung
einer Comicfigur für eine Ihrer Spielzeuglinien.

Ausstellung und Bodypainting

2005 Photostream mit (MakeUp und Bodypainting) für Hewlett Packard mit den berühmten Fotografen Elliott Landy (Woodstockfotograf) und Douglas Kirkland (Starfotograf Hollywood) auf Teneriffa.
Im gleichen Jahr war die Künstlerin an Kunstprojekten wie z. B. „ART on CARS“ der Tourismusmarketing Walsrode oder der „ART on Zebra“ des MSV Duisburg künstlerisch maßgeblich beteiligt.

2006 Festival der Farben/Freiburg, künstlerischer Beitrag Buchveröffentlichung „Madonna in Art“/England, Buchveröffentlichung des Poeten Louis McKee „Near Occasion of Sin“ (Cover) USA, sowie Live-Buchungen für BodyArt von versch. Auftraggebern u. a. Degussa/BASF, Keimfarben, div. Kulturämtern etc.

Neben der Malerei arbeite die Künstlerin heute auch im Bereich Bodypainting und hatte mit diesen Arbeiten auch schon verschiedene Veröfftenlichungen u. a. im Penthouse, TV-Sünde, bei dem Schweizer Buchverlag Neptun usw.
Auch Aufträge u. a. für Printmedienwerbung für Perry Rhodan folgten.
Im Moment arbeitet die Künstlerin hier mit einem bekannten Hersteller für Airbrush, Bodypaintfarben und Equipment zusammen.

The artist and some excerpts of her activities:

Before your time as a "full-time" artist Christine Dumbsky worked as Creativ manager A&R in the music publishing house Touch & Go Music (information administered of Warner/Chappell: www.touchandgo.com) with the emphasis international songplugging.

As a free lance artist Christine Dumbsky shows her paintings since approx. 1996 at the world wide web. This was the beginning of the main concentration on painting. Christine was one of the first artists at all showing her works there. Her web page had visitors in this time over 1, 5 million. The internet was the platform for international contacts and made it possible to set up world-wide exhibitions among other interesting projects. Thus the artist issued 1999 in New York on the Woodstock Revival festival 1999. The exhibition "ART WALL" took place there on the "Art and Sculpture park". Christine's paintings, works of Bob Kennedy and Elliott Landy among other artists where shown there. Togehter with the "original Woodstock photograph " Elliott Landy, who photographed the rock legends Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison uvm. on the first Woodstock 1969, Christine did photo projects back in Germany afterwards.

The "Artwall" at the art- and Sculpture park, took place togehter with the "GET TOGETHER"- Woodstock 99 exhibition. instead of (with works of art of Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol).
In the same year the exhibition moved back to Germany to the International Funkausstellung/Berlin. The gallery Fine Art/New York, who also organized the exhibition in New York initiated also this exhibition.

One year before Chrisitne's paintings were choosen for the release for the American card game "Behind Closed Doors - For women only, men not allowed" of the American company "Intimate Details". The contact with the company came off over the internet. The firm boss Orna Banan looked for suitable artists and pictures for evenly this play. The decision fell on the pictures of Christine. The combination of her works with this play pleased Mrs. Banan, particularly the artist predominantly woman paints. Mrs. Banan also had the idea to develop a pack of cards mainly for lesbian women.

In 2002 Christine was invited by der Hua Cui Chinese Artists Community to show her works in China at an international. exhibition. The exhibit took place close of the town Tianjin - with millions of inhabitants -in the Huan Ya Guan Great barrier & Castle. As the only German artists she was represented beside Chinese and other art-creatives and art professors from the USA, Finland, Austria and Japan. High-ranking politicians, among Mr. Sun Zhenqing, the Chief Governor of Ji Xian County, were at the opening of the exhibition. In January 2002 Christine Dumbsky became honorary member for her commitment and contribution for the extension of the relations between Chinese and western art.
She was locally accompanied by a photo journalist for a photo report.

2002 Christine were represented on the Expo in Switzerland. From this contact later her child project with a child book authoress developed for Swiss. Together with the authoress Christine developed a history for a childrens book. 2007 a toy company let her design a figure for one of their toy-lines.

One year later she co-operated for a "Photostream" (make-up and Bodypainting) for HEWLETT PACKARD with the famous photographers Elliott Landy (Woodstockfotograf) and Douglas Kirkland (star photographer Hollywood) on Teneriffa.

In the same year the artist worked for art projects such as e.g. "ART on CARS" for a tourism agency or the "ART on zebra" of the MSV Duisburg.

2006 she took part at the festival of color/Freiburg. She also had artistic contributions on several book projects and publications such as "Madonna in Art"/England, book cover of the poet Louis McKee "Near Occasion OF Sin" the USA. As well as live-bookings for BodyArt for various clients such as Degussa/BASF, var. Color-Companies, several offices of culture among others.

Beside the painting work the artist today also does Bodypainting, with these art-on-skin-works she already also had numerous releases, such as e.g. in the Penthouse, TV sin, Swiss book publishing house Neptun.
Also orders among other creative art fields - for printed media advertisement for Perry Rhodan followed.
At the moment the artist co-operates also with a well-known manufacturer for Airbrush, Bodypaint colors and equipment.
